Terms and conditions

Terms of Sale and Terms of Use

These terms govern access to the Tannin app and subscription to paid plans. Last updated: October 27, 2026.

1. Publisher and scope of application

Tannin is an online wine cellar management service published by ARCLAY, a simplified joint-stock company (SAS) registered with the Bordeaux Trade and Companies Register (RCS) under number 922 105 317, with its registered office at 31 rue Capdeville, 33000 Bordeaux, France (hereinafter "ARCLAY" or "we"). These terms apply to anyone who creates an account on the app (hereinafter the "user" or "you") and to any subscription to a paid plan. Creating an account constitutes unreserved acceptance of these terms.

2. Service description

Tannin lets you inventory a wine cellar, model racks, track the drinking window and estimated value of your wines, import and export data, share a cellar with people you invite and, for the Professional plan, generate a wine list. Some features use an AI model provided by a third-party provider, including label scanning, value estimation, drinking window suggestions, and plain-language updates.

Estimated values, drinking windows, and information extracted from labels are provided for guidance only. They do not constitute an appraisal, nor financial, legal, or insurance advice. You remain responsible for verifying them and for the use you make of them.

3. Account and access

The service is available in a web browser, with no installation needed. You must be of legal age to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity on your account. You can invite others to view or edit your cellar. You are responsible for the access you grant and can revoke it at any time.

4. Plans and pricing

• Free: access to all cellar management features, with unlimited bottles and no time limit. AI features require you to enter your own API key from the AI model provider, whose usage is billed to you directly by that provider under its terms.

• Enthusiast: annual subscription including the use of AI within the limits of reasonable personal use, monthly updates of your cellar values, and the insurance report. The current price is shown on the website's Pricing page, incl. VAT.

• Professional: annual subscription for restaurants, wine merchants, wine bars, and other professionals, at the price excl. VAT shown on the website's Restaurants page, including AI, the compliant wine list, list prices, and margin statistics.

ARCLAY may change its prices. Any change is announced at least thirty days in advance and only applies to the following billing period; you can cancel before it takes effect.

5. Ordering, payment, and renewal

The Enthusiast subscription is purchased online and paid by credit card via our payment provider. It is concluded for a term of one year, paid in full at subscription, and tacitly renewed for the same term until canceled. Pursuant to Article L215-1 of the French Consumer Code, you are informed in writing of the option not to renew the subscription no earlier than three months and no later than one month before the end of the current period. If a renewal payment fails, access to paid features may be suspended after notice; cellar data remains accessible in the Free plan.

An invoice is made available for each payment.

6. Right of withdrawal

Under the French Consumer Code, consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the date of subscription. By subscribing to the Enthusiast plan, you expressly request that performance of the service begin immediately and acknowledge that, if you withdraw, the price for the period already used remains due. Withdrawal requests must be sent in writing to the contact address given in the legal notice.

7. Cancellation

You can cancel the Enthusiast subscription at any time from your account, free of charge and without notice. The cancellation takes effect at the end of the current subscription year. Your account then reverts to the free version, with no data loss. You can delete your account at any time. Your data is then erased under the conditions set out in the privacy policy.

ARCLAY may suspend or terminate an account in the event of a serious breach of these terms, following notification and, except in emergencies, a period to remedy the issue.

8. Your data and your content

The data you enter (wines, racks, photos, notes, prices) remains your property. You grant us a limited license to host and process it to provide the service. You can export your entire cellar in CSV format at any time, regardless of your plan. You warrant that you hold the rights to the content you import.

9. Service availability and changes

We strive to provide continuous access to the service, without guaranteeing absolute availability. Interruptions for maintenance may occur; we aim to announce them in advance. The service evolves: features may be added, modified, or removed, without substantially reducing the core features of a paid plan during the current period.

10. Liability

ARCLAY is bound by a best-efforts obligation (obligation de moyens under French law). It cannot be held liable for indirect damages, loss of data attributable to the user, the inaccuracy of an estimate or of information generated by AI, or the consequences of a decision made on the basis of the service, in particular regarding insurance, sale, or wine consumption. ARCLAY's liability, if incurred, is limited to the amounts paid by the user over the last twelve months.

11. Intellectual property

The service, its interface, its code, and its content are protected. These terms grant you no rights to them, except for a personal, non-exclusive right to use the service for the duration of your account.

12. Mediation and disputes

If you have a complaint, first write to us at the contact address given in the legal notice; we respond within a reasonable time. If no amicable solution is reached, consumers may use a consumer mediation service (médiateur de la consommation) free of charge: the contact details of the competent mediator are provided on request at the contact address and will be published on this page. Consumers may also use the European Online Dispute Resolution platform.

These terms are governed by French law. Failing an amicable settlement, French courts have jurisdiction, subject to applicable consumer protection rules.

13. Changes to the terms

ARCLAY may modify these terms. Users will be informed by email or in the app at least thirty days before the effective date. Continuing to use the service after this date constitutes acceptance.
