How to organize your wine cellar
A simple rule: ready-to-drink wines in front and within reach, wines for aging in the back or at the bottom, where they are disturbed the least. Whatever sorting method you choose (by color, region, or drinking window), the key is knowing where each bottle is. Tannin records the exact location of each one: rack, row, and depth.
How long should you keep a wine before drinking it?
It depends on the wine. Most wines are made to be drunk in their early years, while some fine reds or sweet wines benefit from aging ten years or more. Each wine has its drinking window, with a moment when it is at its peak. Tannin records it for each bottle and flags the wines to drink soon.
How do I find out the value of my wine cellar?
Tannin estimates the value of each wine at market price, based on public retail and auction prices, citing sources and the date of the estimate. It compares the total value to what you paid. This is an estimate, not a certified appraisal: keep your invoices with the insurance report.
Can I import my Excel file?
Yes. Import an Excel or CSV file with one wine per row: Tannin identifies columns in English, French, or Spanish, and shows you a preview before importing. A ready-to-use template is available if you are starting from scratch.
Does Tannin work on iPhone and Android?
